“What is your book about?”
This is the first question everyone asks when I tell them I’m writing a novel. Strangely enough, it has been somewhat of a difficult question to answer, at least succinctly. For simplicity’s sake, my default response has been that it is an action/suspense novel, set in the Middle East.
I know what my book is about, of course, I just haven’t been able to frame it the way that a summary on Amazon would. Condensing my story into a few alluring sentences has been almost as challenging as writing the full novel itself (well…not really, but certainly not as easy as I would have hoped). I am happy to share that along with my completed outline, I was also able to accomplish just that last week – the summary.
So, at long last, here it is; I hope it whets your appetite enough to want to read the finished product!
While rediscovering her homeland, a place rich in culture and beauty, twenty-nine year old Maris is kidnapped abruptly, ripped away from her young son in the center of a busy Shiraz bazaar. Twenty years after her father’s presumed assassination during the Iranian revolution, Maris and her family are thrust into a labyrinth of trust and deception involving the political scramble of wealth, opium smuggling and the CIA.
This book gives new insight into a fascinating country often misunderstood; a culture centered around family, fierce loyalties and love.
